  • Manny Pacquaio's shoulder injury claim in 2015 is fake, says Dr. Pietro Baio
  • Pacquiao lost to Floyd Mayweather via a unanimous decision in the "Fight of the Century"
  • The mega bout is tagged as the richest fight in boxing history

Manny Pacquiao claimed that he suffered a shoulder injury during his mega bout against Floyd Mayweather in 2015. Five years later, a doctor debunked Pacman's statement, saying the Filipino legend simply would not accept his loss to the undefeated American.

Dr. Pietro Baio appeared on the Culinary Fighter show, per World Boxing News, and boldly criticized Pacquiao, saying the latter's alleged injury "was not an issue until he lost."

“So, we go back to the fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao and Pacquiao saying he had a shoulder injury,” said Baio. “You know, looking at that fight, and being a chiropractor and physiologist, I sort of call bull**** on that.

“Simply because of the fact that it wasn’t an issue the whole fight. You didn’t see him holding his shoulder. You didn’t see them rubbing him in the corner.

“He was able to hold his arm up and to throw his punches. If that shoulder itself is injured or he has a rotator cuff injury, he’s not going to be able to do that," added the doctor, who is known for working with Canadian welterweight fighter Phil Lo Greco.

At post-fight, Pacquiao made the shocking revelation about his injury. The fighting politician insisted the injury had been bothering him in the lead up to the blockbuster fight, backing it up with photos showing him undergoing treatment.

But Baio is not having any of it.

"Once again, you can get a video of anybody giving you an injection of anything. He might have just gotten a cortisone shot before or after just to decrease inflammation," he said.

"In the boxing world, you never know what’s real and what’s fake. I’m going to sit here as a professional. I’m going to say that was fake.

“He lost. Floyd did his thing. I knew how Floyd was going to fight and Pacquiao wasn’t prepared for that.

“So, moving forward, he came up with an injury to say why he didn’t perform as well as his Filipino fans would have wanted him to."

Pacquiao succumbed to Mayweather via a unanimous decision in the bout tagged as the richest fight in boxing history.

However, both fighters did not seem to live up to the hype as fans were left disappointed with the underwhelming turn out of the event.
