  • Britney Spears' request to remove her dad from her conservatorship has been granted
  • The judge said it's in Spears' best interest to suspend Jamie from the conservatorship immediately
  • Several celebrities congratulated Spears for the progress in her conservatorship battle

Britney Spears made a major victory in her conservatorship battle Wednesday.

Spears wanted to oust her dad, Jamie Spears, from her conservatorship. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny granted her request declaring that it is in her "best interest" to suspend Jamie because his control over her life was "toxic."

"The current situation is untenable," she said after the hearing, as quoted by Page Six. "It reflects a toxic environment which requires the suspension of James Spears."

She handed down the monumental decisions before a packed room of spectators and a crowd of #FreeBritney supporters rallying outside the court chanting, "Hey, hey, ho, ho, the conservatorship has got to go!"

Spears' lawyer Mathew Rosengart filed a new supplemental motion Monday, calling for Jamie's immediate suspension "no later than" this week's hearing. He also asked for the "prompt termination" of the singer's conservatorship that he described as "abusive."

Rosengart wanted Jamie's immediate suspension after learning that he allegedly "engaged in horrifying and unconscionable invasions of his adult daughter’s privacy." The "Toxic" singer's home was allegedly bugged. Spears live in California, which is a two-party consent. Thus, it is illegal to track her phone without her consent.

"Unauthorized recording or monitoring of Britney’s private communications — especially attorney-client communications, which are a sacrosanct part of the legal system — represent an unconscionable and disgraceful violation of her privacy rights and a striking example of the deprivation of her civil liberties," Rosengart said in a statement obtained by Variety.

"Placing a listening device in Britney’s bedroom would be particularly horrifying, and corroborates so much of her compelling, poignant testimony. Mr. Spears has crossed unfathomable lines," he continued.

Several celebrities congratulated Spears after the judge's decision to remove her dad from her conservatorship that she has been asking for in the past months.

"A huge congratulations to Britney Spears!!! #FreeBritney #freedom #BritneySpears," La Toya Jackson tweeted.

"The performance of Britney’s lawyer today in court — fighting vehemently on her behalf — is incredible, but it’s also what a lawyer *should* be doing on behalf of their client," Gibson Johns wrote. "Imagine if she had gotten to choose her own lawyer 12 years ago back in 2009. #FreeBritney."
