Brody Jenner is getting real about his relationship with Caitlyn Jenner. In episode 2 of "The Hills: New Beginnings," Brody opened up to friends about what it was like growing up with his father, who transitioned to be a woman in 2015.

In the MTV episode, castmate Brandon Lee invited Brody and some other notable celeb offspring -- Shaquille O'Neal's son Myles and Steve McQueen's grandson Chase McQueen -- over for dinner. According to Us Weekly, Brody was asked about trying to live up to his father's success and major shade was thrown.

“I didn’t really grow up with my dad,” the 35-year-old revealed. “When I was really little we got to spend a little time. When he started, obviously, the family with the Kardashian family, I didn’t really see much of him.”

Jenner, who previously misgendered his father, explained in a confessional during Monday night's episode, "Bruce was just never really around... Wasn’t around for my graduation, wasn’t around for most of my birthdays so, yeah, it really wasn’t any relationship. It was very surface.”

Although he didn't have much of a relationship with Caitlyn, then Bruce, during his childhood, the two did eventually grow closer. Unfortunately, it didn't last long.

“I was just getting to know Bruce and then Bruce became Caitlyn," Jenner confessed. "She’s totally different."

Different doesn't necessarily mean bad, though. "The Hills" star added, "It’s awesome, it’s great. She’s happy, she’s running around. She’s off living her life, so what I’ve learned is to just not expect too much from her.”

"The Hills: New Beginnings" airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on MTV.
