  • Bruno Fernandes scored 18 goals in the Premier League this season
  • His current deal with Man Utd is until 2025
  • He is being rewarded with a new contract for his consistent performances

Manchester United are reportedly set to offer a new contract to Bruno Fernandes that would see the star midfielder’s wage getting doubled.

Fernandes, whose current deal is until 2025, is soon to be rewarded by Manchester United for his consistent performances since his debut in February 2020. The new contract would see Fernandes earn close to $282,000-a-week, reported soccer website Teamtalk.

Manchester United want the new deal to be sealed before the European Championships 2020 that are due to begin next month, according to One Football.

The 26-year-old former Sporting Lisbon player joined the Old Trafford side during the January transfer window last year. He scored eight goals and provided seven assists in just 14 games and helped Manchester United finish in the top four last season.

In the 2020-21 campaign, where the Red Devils finished runner’s up in the Premier League, Fernandes finished third in the top goal scorers’ list, with 18 goals and 11 assists in 37 matches.

"My priority today is to win trophies. Collective titles are more important than individual titles and we are working on that here. I think the club has improved a lot since I arrived here. It is in a growth phase and the players are getting more and more the mentality that you should have in a club like Manchester United, which wants to win titles and more titles. That's what we're here for. I feel like I'm part of that and I'm here to help the club evolve," Fernandes was quoted, as saying, in an interview recently.

Fernandes’ agent Miguel Pinto recently flew down to Manchester United in the hope to inset a buyout clause in his client’s new deal. However, the Red Devils immediately rejected it, ensuring their playmaker will only be allowed to leave on their terms, the Teamtalk report further revealed.
