Cannabis has long been overshadowed by the stigma that it is an illegal substance under the Federal Law. But for the past year, the industry, especially cannabis oil, has been seeing some significant developments, especially in North America.

Canada, for one, has fully legalized both medical and recreational cannabis use, while the U.S. has recently passed the 2018 Farm Bill which finally removed hemp, a close cousin of marijuana, under the Federal list of illegal substances. Both hemp and marijuana are used to create cannabis oil, known to be an effective substance with a number of health benefits.

With the recent cannabis developments, people are now seeing the benefits of using cannabis. Not only is it being used to alleviate chronic pain, but it is also found to address skin problems like acne and even dry skin, as well as seizures brought about by specific types of epilepsy. In fact, last year, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the first cannabis-based drug that can treat severe and rare types of epilepsy.

Another popular use of cannabis, more specifically cannabis oil, is helping people who are suffering from insomnia. According to a report released by the World Health Organization (WHO), use of cannabis oil that contains cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive substance derived mostly from hemp, often result in less REM-sleep disruption, helping people have better sleep.

In the same study, it is said that CBD can prevent the breakdown of a chemical neurotransmitter in the brain that affects mental function, emotional state, and pain. This allows chemical that help people get better sleep (which causes drowsiness) flow better, leading to better sleep.

Aside from these uses, some websites also claim that cannabis oil or CBD oil also has antipsychotic effects by calming the nervous system, which also aids in better rest for the user.

With the growing popularity of cannabis oil and its uses, more experts are bound to do more research about its use and efficacy. It’s only a matter of time before we once more unlock more advantages when it comes to using cannabis oil.
