According to Forbes, the Philadelphia Eagles player is a winner on and off the field. He holds a number of franchise records such as passing yards, completions and touchdowns in one single season. Wentz was drafted number two in the 2016 NFL Draft, behind Jared Goff. His starting salary was only $450,000 but it included a massive signing bonus of $17.6 million, pushing his 2016 total earnings to at least $18 million.

The North Dakota State alum wasted no time proving his worth in the league. With just one year of NFL experience under his belt, Wentz was named second-team All-Pro and was selected in the Pro Bowl. Moreover, he received the Bert Bell Award in 2017. In 2018, the Eagles won their first Super Bowl title against the New England Patriots but Wentz was not the team’s quarterback during the game. Nick Foles, a backup quarterback manned the team as Wentz got injured.

Per Spotrac, in his four years as QB, Wentz has earned $39.6 million. At just 27 years old, making it big in the NFL that is full of superstars is already an accomplishment. In 2019, he signed a 4-year extension worth $128 million. The deal is sweetened by a $16 million signing bonus, on top of a $30 million optional bonus. He still has many years ahead of him and barring any major injury or a dip in production, there will be more lucrative extensions in line for him in the future.

As one of the more influential players in the league, the Philadelphia Eagle star used his platform to support the Black Lives Matter movement. On social media, the QB expressed mixed feelings over Independence Day as he believes the nation is not entirely free. He added that he is looking forward to the day when everyone can enjoy real freedom.
