After shocking the Kansas City Chiefs (11-4) at Arrowhead Stadium two weeks ago, the Los Angeles Chargers (11-4) increased their chances of winning the AFC West and securing the AFC’s top seed. Those chances would have been even greater thanks to another Chiefs loss on Sunday night; however, the Chargers lost at home to the Baltimore Ravens (9-6), putting a serious dent in their seeding opportunities.

The Chargers are guaranteed a playoff spot. That much is certain. It is looking more and more likely that the Chargers will be the AFC’s 5th seed, as they will need to win and get a great deal of help to have a shot at the AFC West in Week 17.

Los Angeles needs to beat the Denver Broncos (6-8) in Denver and hope the Chiefs lose at home to the Oakland Raiders (3-11) to win the AFC West and get a playoff bye. The Chiefs will undoubtedly be heavy favorites in that game, as all they need to do is win to secure the AFC’s top seed.

The Chargers will likely be betting favorites against the Broncos, too, but something worth noting is that the Chargers rarely win in Denver. Los Angeles has only three wins in the Mile High City since 2010, with the most recent of those coming in 2013.
