  • Chelsea defender Malang Sarr is looking forward to his stint with FC Porto
  • Sarr's loan spell is part of Chelsea's evolution process
  • Sarr hopes to help Porto win more titles

Malang Sarr will start his new journey but not immediately with Chelsea FC. The 21-year-old defender was sent by the Blues to FC Porto as part of their usual approach of sending young players out on loan for first-team experience.

Sarr was acquired by the Blues this summer on a five-year deal. However, it was understood from the start that the 21-year-old French defender would be loaned out and that team turned out to be FC Porto, Goal reported.

Sarr appears happy with the development and is looking forward to playing for the Dragons. He said that the move was an opportunity he was looking for, and he is ready to help Porto achieve its goals.

“FC Porto is the best club in Portugal, it is a very big club with talented players and a history that, for me, is very important. I know this story, it's a proud club and that's what I hope to find, a team that fights and with a good mentality,” Sarr said.

It seems Sarr has done his homework and is aware that he joins a club filled with ambition. He said he hopes to do his part in helping the club win more league titles and get a feel of the support that Porto fans are giving.

“The Porto fans are very good. I know that they have been helping the team as much as possible and that they want to get back to the stadiums as soon as possible. But for now, I know that they will continue to support us to help us get where we want to be,” Sarr said.

Porto is a team that has been on the rise. The club has won the Primeira Liga and Taca de Portugal double under Sergio Conceicao. With the entry of Sarr, the Dragons are expected to stay the course.

Aside from the Blues, Arsenal FC was also linked to the 21-year-old defender. He was one of Mikel Arteta’s targets to beef up their defensive side. Unfortunately, nothing prospered and Sarr ended up signing with the Blues.
