  • Blues rejected Bayern Munich's loan bid for Callum Hudson-Odoi, a report said
  • Bayern may explore other options with the transfer deadline almost here
  • Chelsea is expected to unload players after its big summer haul

Bayern Munich's efforts to secure Callum Hudson-Odoi in the final days of the transfer window have fallen short, a report said.

Sky Sports reported that Der FCB’s latest bid for Hudson-Odoi was rejected by Chelsea FC. The latest pitch is believed to be for an initial loan with an option to buy for around $89 million in 2021.

In the January transfer window last year, Bayern had offered a reported £30 million ($38 million) to sign Hudson-Odoi, per Sky Sports. The club tried once more in summer 2019 and made a bid worth around £22.5 million ($29 million) for the highly-rated winger.

It appeared the 19-year-old had had a good chance of transferring when Maurizio Sarri was still at the helm, having grown frustrated at the lack of playing minutes. Not much has changed since then with Hudson-Odoi struggling to make it to Chelsea boss Frank Lampard’s first team.

The development comes not long after reports came out that Bayern is in new discussions for Hudson-Odoi. Bild reported that Der FCB is trying to rush a deal for the winger with the Oct. 5 transfer deadline almost here.

Bayern remains stubbornly in pursuit of the English winger despite Lampard stressing that he wants Hudson-Odoi to stay at Stamford Bridge. However, he also appeared non-committal regarding whether or not the Blues had a firm hold on the 19-year-old.

But with another pitch rejected, Bayern is running out of time. The club does have other targets in mind and may check if they are worth pursuing over Hudson-Odoi.

Other targets for Bayern are Thomas Lemar of Atletico Madrid and Andrej Kramaric of Hoffenheim. The only drawback if Der FCB is to turn to these players is that both come with a considerable price tag.

As for Chelsea, it will be interesting to see how the club will treat the case of Hudson-Odoi.

It is also worth noting that there are players expected to exit Stamford Bridge. Four players did not see action against Crystal Palace: Marcos Alonso, Emerson Palmieri, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Antonio Rudiger. These four names are speculated to be moving out as the Blues try to trim down their squad after their big haul this summer.
