Romelu Lukaku has admitted that he is “not happy” with Thomas Tuchel’s current system at Chelsea before accepting that he would want to return to Inter Milan someday.

Lukaku, who has scored in Chelsea’s last two games, is yet to return to full fitness having been limited to just six Premier League appearances since mid-October due to an injury and COVID-19.

The 28-year-old Belgian forward has said the current system used by Tuchel at Stamford Bridge does not suit him, before adding that he will work his way to his best form for the Blues.

"Physically I'm fine, even better than before. After two years in Italy, in which I worked a lot at Inter with coaches and nutritionists, I am physically fine. I’m not happy with the situation and that’s only natural. The head coach has decided to play a different system and I mustn’t let up, I need to keep working hard and be professional. I’m not happy with the situation but I’m a grafter and I mustn’t let up," Lukaku told Sky Sports.

Having played a total of 18 games across all competitions in the 2021-22 season so far, Lukaku has netted seven goals along with two assists. With 42 points from 20 league games, Chelsea are placed second in the table, eight behind leaders Manchester City.

Chelsea next take on Liverpool and the winner of the contest will take the second spot in the league table. While Liverpool have managed three wins in their last five matches in the Premier League, Chelsea have only two wins in five games.

Meanwhile, Lukaku, who moved from Inter Milan to Chelsea at $132 million in the summer of 2021, has also said that the Serie A club is in his heart and he would definitely want to play for them again in the future.

Lukaku left Inter Milan after leading them to their first Serie A title in 11 years.

"I think everything that happened was not supposed to happen like this. How I left Inter, how I communicated with the fans, this bothers me because it is not the right time now, but even when I left it was not the right time. Now I think it is right to speak because I have always said that I have Inter in my heart, I will return to play there, I really hope so," he added.

Lukaku spent two seasons at Inter Milan between 2019 and 2021 and netted 64 goals and 21 assists in 95 competitive appearances for them.

"I am in love with Italy, this is rightly the time to talk and let people know what really happened without talking badly about people because I am not like that. First I want to say a big apology to the Inter fans because I think the way I left should have been different. I had to talk to you first, because the things you have done for me, for my family, for my mother, for my son, are things that remain for me in life. I really hope in the depths of my heart to return to Inter, not at the end of my career, but at a still good level to hopefully win more," added Lukaku.
