Chicken Egg Allergy

Following two chicken recalls last week, VICS Acquisitions, LLC has recalled approximately 99,975 pounds of chicken products due to misbranding and an undeclared egg allergen.

Included in the recall are VICS Acquisitions’ happi foodi Bloody Mary Inspired Chicken, Southeast Grocers Brand Marsala Chicken, and Southeast Grocers Brand Mediterranean Herb Chicken. The recalled chicken was produced from Aug. 7 to Oct. 15, 2018. It was packaged in 1.5-pound bags containing one frozen steam bag meal.

The affected chicken was labeled as happi foodi BLOODY MARY INSPIRED CHICKEN with lot codes of 14528 and 15092 and use by dates of March 2, 2020, and April 15, 2020. Also, SE Grocers MARSALA CHICKEN with lot codes of 14177 and 14532 and use by dates of Feb. 8, 2020, and March 3, 2020. And, SE Grocers MEDITERRANEAN STYLE HERB CHICKEN with lots codes of 14145 and 14531 and use by dates of Feb. 7, 2020, and March 4, 2020.

The recalled chicken products also have an establishment number of P-34622 on the package. The affected happi foodi chicken products were shipped to retailers nationwide while the recalled Southeast Grocers brand of chicken products were sold at retail locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Consumers are urged to check their freezers and refrigerators for the recalled chicken. They should not consume the chicken and should throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.
