This is not love a story portrayed in a movie or a novel. This Iowa couple demonstrated how long the true love could last.

Gordon and Norma Yeager, both in their nineties and were married for 72 years, had remained inseparable till their last breaths as they died within minutes of one another, holding hands.

Following a car accident on Oct.12 last, the couple ended up in the ICU unit of a hospital in Des Moines. They were in a critical condition. The staff at the hospital decided to keep both of them together in the ICU where they remained barely responsive, but holding hands.

Gordon passed away at 3:38 pm on the same day, surrounded by his family members but still holding the hand of his wife.

It was really strange, they were holding hands, and dad stopped breathing, but I couldn't figure out what was going on because the heart monitor was still going, KCCI.com quoted the couple's son, Dennis Yeager, as saying stating. But we were like, 'he isn't breathing. How does he still have a heart beat?' The nurse checked and said that's because they were holding hands and it's going through them. Her heart was beating through him and picking it up.

Just 70 minutes after Gordon had died, Norma also died - still holding his hands, as they did when they got married way back in 1939.
