Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus teammate is reportedly open to reconsidering signing with Barcelona.

Juventus may have made a better offer over Barcelona for defender Matthijs de Ligt last year. However, the 20-year-old is now reviewing his options and reports claim that de Ligt is closely following the negotiations between Barcelona and Juventus for the players involved such as Ivan Rakitic.

According to a report by Mundo Deportivo (via AS), de Ligt has been keeping an eye on Barcelona and Juventus on-going negotiations. The said clubs have reportedly opened a line of communication on possible player exchanges. The young centre-back is believed to be keen on making a move to Camp Nou should another opportunity to join the Catalan club arise once again. Serie A giants Juventus on the other hand, are reportedly very interested in Barcelona midfielder Arthur.

Aside from de Ligt, Barca also have their eyes locked on a bunch of Juve’s players reportedly Merih Demiral, Mattia De Sciglio , Miralem Pjanić , Rodrigo Bentancur and Federico Bernardeschi.

The first time the Dutchman was linked to Barcelona, sources claim that it was Lionel Messi who wanted de Ligt at Camp Nou. The six-time Ballon d’Or winner appreantly wanted Barcelona to move in for Ronaldo’s Juventus teammate de Ligt as a long-term replacement for Gerard Pique. However, Messi is aware that Real Madrid and Florentino Perez were also be interested in de Ligt at the time and urged Barca to act quickly to seal the deal.

Despite having a great time with Juventus, De Ligt is still considering a move to the Spanish city, as he knows Barca are in need of someone in his position. De Ligt is also believed to be aware that a switch to Barcelona could mean more playing time on the pitch.

With a contract until 2024 and a large price tag associated with his name, the negotiations could be very difficult de Ligt. However, pundits believe that with an agent like Mino Raiola, anything could be possible.

Lautaro Martínez is another star who is being linked to a move to Barcelona. According to a tactical analysis, the Inter Milan striker could help Barca’s forward line to finally start complementing each other. However, LaLiga president Javier Tebas recently denied the rumors swirling around that Barcelona is pursuing either Martínez or Neymar. Instead, Tebas insisted that the Catalan club is more focused on the resume of training and LaLiga matches.
