  • Dolores Aveiro hopes that Cristiano Ronaldo's son will play for Sporting CP
  • Ronaldo left the Portuguese side to join Manchester United prior to the 2003-04 season
  • Aveiro also claims that her grandson sees himself joining Sporting CP

Dolores Aveiro, Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, recently revealed that her dream is to see one of her family members wear the green and white colors of Sporting CP.

Appearing on the LDN de Leao podcast, Aveiro wished that either her son, Ronaldo, or her grandson, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., would join her favorite soccer team back in Portugal.

“[Cristiano] Ronaldo has to come back here [to Sporting CP], for me he'd be here," said Aveiro.

“He (Cristiano Ronaldo) likes to watch Sporting’s games. I've already told him: 'Son, before I die I want to see you return to Sporting'.”

According to Aveiro, Ronaldo told her that “he’d see” and if it does not come to pass, she hopes that her grandson Ronaldo Jr. will be the one to join Sporting CP.

“If it isn't [him], it's Cristianinho (Cristiano Ronaldo Jr.)! At his age, he plays better than (Cristiano) Ronaldo. At the time, Ronaldo didn't have a coach, but today Ronaldo is his son's teacher,” she said.

Ronaldo left Sporting CP to join Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United back in 2002 after they paid the Portuguese club £12.24 million ($16.7 million), making him the most expensive teenage player in English football history at the time.

As for his 11-year-old son Ronaldo Jr., playing club soccer has yet to cross his mind as the media attention on him will be extremely high, if he decides to go that route.

It remains to be seen whether “little Cristiano” will follow in his father's footsteps or he chooses to blaze his own trail, possibly returning home to Portugal and sign with Sporting CP.

Aveiro also claimed that Ronaldo Jr. sees himself becoming a player for Sporting CP, but he is yet to make a solid commitment.

The Manchester United forward made sure that his children will be financially secured so that they have the freedom to choose whatever they wish to be when the time comes.

Currently, Ronaldo Jr. is with Manchester United’s youth academy, alongside club legend Wayne Rooney’s son, Kai.
