Manchester United are reportedly willing to sell Cristiano Ronaldo in the ongoing summer window.

Ronaldo has a year left on his current contract but the player is believed to have decided to part ways, even though Manchester United want him to stay.

Succumbing to the pressure from the player and his agent, the Red Devils have decided to cash in on him as they have labeled the legendary forward with a price tag of around $16 million, according to Portuguese journalist Bruno Andrade, who has a credible record in the European transfer market.

Manchester United failed to finish in the top four of the 2021-22 Premier League, let alone be in the title race at some point the last term. As a result, the Red Devils failed to secure the Champions League for the upcoming season and that is one of the main reasons behind Ronaldo’s decision to leave.

Chelsea are preparing to follow up their interest in Ronaldo and approach Manchester United with an offer of around $17 million for the former Juventus star, according to Football Insider.

Thomas Tuchel and Co. are looking to land their second attack this summer after agreeing to personal terms with Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has not begun training yet under new head coach Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, citing personal reasons. However, no one at the club knows if the five-time Ballon d’Or will ever return ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

“As things stand, nobody at Manchester United knows when Cristiano Ronaldo will return to pre-season training. Of course, his great disappointment remains with the current state of the club and he really wants to leave as soon as possible,” renowned soccer journalist Fabrizio Romano told CaughtOffSide.
