Cristiano Ronaldo’s ultimate Serie A rival is reportedly willing to sign with Manchester United should the Premier League club decide to make a move.

It has become evident in the Premier League that Manchester United is desperate to add some attacking force into their squad. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has been patiently negotiating with Borussia Dortmund for a massive transfer involving Jadon Sancho. However, reports from England newspapers claimed that United might consider taking a look at Lazio superstar Ciro Immobile.

According to Euro Football Rumours, reports in England suggested that Man United could get a prolific striker in Immobile. Sources claimed that United has been told that Immobile would be “willing to sign” with the club should it consider making a move. The report further stated that Immobile’s undeniably exceptional goal scoring season with Lazio has led to the assumption that he could fill a “chasm” in Solskjaer’s lineup.

Prior to this, the 30-year-old has reportedly been a top prospect for various European clubs. However, his contract with the Italian side is set to expire at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

Much of the buzz around Immobile may have come from his impeccable performance in Serie A and being put on the same footing as Juventus superstar Ronaldo.

Immobile has represented Lazio since 2016 after moving from Sevilla. The Italian striker has wasted no time and quickly emerged as the club’s primary goal scorer.

This season, Immobile has hit the back of the net 30 times in all competitions, the second time in his professional career. He has managed to become a consistent top scorer in Serie A this season with 27 goals, six more than his closest rival for the Capocannoniere award, Ronaldo. He has also provided seven assists in 33 matches.

In the national side, Immobile is also considered as one of the best strikers of Italy. He has represented the country at various youth levels before going on to secure 39 senior caps for Italy so far.

If his transfer does come to fruition, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Immobile becomes the new face of Manchester United.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils reportedly won’t rush into making any offers for their top prospect, Sancho. Recent reports claimed that United is “ready to bide [its] time” with the hopes of possibly having the 20-year-old’s price tag reduced by Borussia Dourtmund. United has been heavily linked to Sancho and has been the favorite to sign the goal scoring youngster.
