It might be hard to believe but Hallmark Channel’s “Countdown to Christmas” event is coming to a close for 2020, with the final new premiere of the season. That film, “Cross Country Christmas,” starring Rachael Leigh Cook and Greyston Holt, airs Sunday night.

The film chosen to close out the new premieres is certainly a good one when it comes to cast, as brings a very familiar face to the screen. Fans likely recognize Cook from her roles in films such as “The Baby-Sitters Club,” “She’s All That” and “Josie and the Pussycats,” but she is certainly not new to Hallmark either. Previous credits have included “Summer Love,” “Autumn in the Vineyard,” “Summer in the Vineyard,” “Frozen in Love” and “Valentine in the Vineyard,” as well as the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries title “A Blue Ridge Mountain Christmas.”

As for Holt, he is likely recognized for his roles in the upTV films “A Puppy for Christmas,” “A Very Country Christmas,” “A Very Country Wedding” and “A Very Country Christmas: Homecoming.” However, he also starred in the Lifetime film “A Sweet Christmas Romance.”

So what will happen in this film? As it turns out, according to a synopsis, the people you remember from high school may change as they get older and become people you never expected.

“Lina (Cook) and Max (Holt), both from the same small town in Colorado but never friends, are traveling from New York City back home for the holidays,” the synopsis reads. “That is, until a storm reroutes their plane.”

The two are quickly forced to band together as they try to find their way back home, but things will start to take a very unexpected turn for them along the way.

“With no flights out, they work together to make it home in time, no matter the mode of transportation,” the synopsis continues. “The people they meet along the way, and the places they pass through, help them see Christmas—and each other—in a different way.”

“Cross Country Christmas” premieres Sunday, Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. EST on Hallmark Channel.
