The Dallas Cowboys lost sole possession of first place in the NFC East Sunday, falling into a tie with the Philadelphia Eagles atop the division. Dallas was defeated at home by the Green Bay Packers 34-24, dropping to 3-2 in the 2019 NFL season.

It was the Cowboys’ second straight loss after getting off to a perfect 3-0 start, and it marked the second consecutive game in which Dallas was beaten by a playoff contender. Through five weeks, Dallas has yet to pick up a win against elite competition.

The Cowboys’ offense was dominant in their Week 1 win over the New York Giants, who are a game out of first place at 2-3 and don’t appear to be much of a threat in the NFC East. Dallas rolled past the Washington Redskins in Week 2, defeating a team that’s still winless in Week 5 and just fired its head coach.

The Miami Dolphins never stood a chance in Dallas in Week 3. The Cowboys scored more than 30 points in each of their first three games, recording two victories against teams that still haven’t entered the win column.

The New Orleans Saints shut down the Cowboys’ offense in their Week 4 meeting. Losses to Green Bay and New Orleans have left Dallas with something to prove.

Week 6 won’t give the Cowboys a chance to show they can beat a Super Bowl contender. Dallas will face one of the worst teams in football when they visit the New York Jets. The Cowboys are 8.5-point road favorites against yet another winless team, according to the early betting odds at OddsShark.

In the first three games of the season, Dak Prescott threw for nine touchdown passes and two interceptions, posting two passer ratings north of 123.0. The quarterback has two touchdowns and four interceptions in the last two games with pedestrian passer ratings of 73.2 and 83.8.

Ezekiel Elliott has rushed for 97 total yards in Dallas’ two losses after averaging 96.3 rushing yards per game in the team’s two wins.

The Cowboys still lead the NFL in total offense, though they are down to ninth in points per game. Dallas is sixth in both total defense and points allowed.

Philadelphia will visit Dallas in a key NFC East matchup in Week 7.
