It’s been a wild, rumba-filled ride. But on Tuesday night, the foot-tapping series, “Dancing With the Stars,” came to a dazzling end when one couple from the Season 21 installment danced away with the sparkling Mirror Ball trophy. So, which duo was dubbed king and queen of the ballroom floor during the finale? Well, Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough ultimately earned that coveted title -- and rightfully so.

Week after week Bindi has surpassed the expectations of both the judges and the audiences with her innovative and well-executed performances. But in addition to proving her talent on the dance floor, the Aussie native also won over hearts of viewers with her unwavering determination, joy and strange animal references. (We’re still wondering how a shark can be sexy.)

In fact, judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Julianne Hough noted after Bindi’s final routine, which earned a perfect score, that Season 21 of the hit ABC series has become their favorite installment solely because of the animal lover.

“From the moment you walked into the theater you lit us all up. You’ve been the beacon of light for everyone every time you dance,” Carrie Ann said.

After winning the Mirror Ball, Bindi and Derek (who has now earned the title of “DWTS” champion six times) were lifted into the air by their fellow dancers.

“Thank you so much for everything. I can’t believe I’m here. Thank you for changing my life,” she said graciously.

Alek Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold were placed in third while Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess took home the second place trophy.

“This experience was a bonding experience -- it was something I will always remember,” Nick told “DWTS” co-host Erin Andrews after the Season 21 winner was unveiled. “Bindi deserved it. She kicked butt!”
