Mischa Barton is finally ready to take on the ballroom! “The OC” alum, who is competing on Season 22 of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” revealed that before she accepted the opportunity to shake it out on live TV, she sat on the network’s offer to compete on the show.

“[The network] asked me for many years and it wasn’t working with my schedule and it just wasn’t the right time,” the 30-year-old actress told E! News. “I like staying busy and its fun training. Why not — it’s a fun challenge. It’s just like a nice thing to do for a second and see how you do.”

Mischa also divulged to US Weekly that she was itching to “try something new” and interested to see just how far she could go in the competition. But the London-born star won’t be the only one pushing herself to the limits. Her partner Artem Chigvinztev is excited to turn the TV darling into a dancing queen.

“[Artem] has me doing planks, and drilling me and twisting and turning,” Mischa divulged during a segment on “Access Hollywood.”

But Artem warned Mischa that competing on “Dancing With the Stars” was “going to be a lot” of work! “We have to learn, every week, a new dance,” he told E! News. “So, I guess it will be challenging for anybody who never had dance experience in the past.”

However, Mischa’s not too concerned with being a ballroom newbie. The blond-haired performer dished that as long as there’s a good tune playing while she’s jiving on the dance floor, she’ll be OK.

“The music selection is major,” Artem’s partner said. “If you like the song, you can like the dance more.”

Fans can catch Mischa and Artem shake it out on Season 22 of “Dancing With the Stars” when the ABC series airs its spring premiere Monday, March 21, at 8 p.m. EST.
