“Dancing With the Stars” fans were anxiously awaiting Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Heather Morris’ appearance on “Good Morning America” Tuesday morning to discuss their elimination from Season 24. However, the “Glee” star appeared on the ABC morning show sans her partner, revealing that a family emergency kept him away.

While she was unclear on the full details, Morris told the show’s hosts that Maks and fiancee Peta Murgatroyd discovered a strange man attempting to break into their home. Police were called and the “DWTS” pros, as well as their infant son Shai Chmerkovskiy, are said to be doing fine.

“They had some sort of run in with some man near their house trying to break in, but the police were there,” the actress/dancer revealed. “They took care of it. So they’re safe and Peta’s OK. That’s the most important thing.”

The Los Angeles Police Department later confirmed the news to E! Online. They received a call about an attempted break in at the “DWTS” pros’ home. No one was arrested according to LAPD.

Although Maks wasn’t able to discuss his surprising departure from “DWTS” on “GMA,” he expressed his shock after Week 6 on Monday. The professional dancer told ET Online he didn’t see the elimination coming. What’s more, Maks said he felt he and Heather stood a chance of winning the entire competition.

“Well, I mean we’ve had a few [surprising upsets] in 24 seasons of the show [but] I just never thought that one of my [partners] was going to be a part of that shock,” he said. “Brandy [Norwood] and I didn’t make it to the final [in Season 11] when I thought she was one of the best dancers, but [that] wasn’t as shocking as this. This is crazy.”

Maks and Heather found themselves up for elimination during Monday night’s episode of “DWTS.” They were joined in limbo by Team Golden Giggles (Simone Biles and Sasha Farber), Team Valmani (Normani Kordei and Val Chmerkovskiy), and Team Blades of Glory (Nancy Kerrigan and Artem Chigvintsev). In the final moments of Week 6, they were sent home for having the lowest combined score and viewer votes.

Neither Maks nor Peta have said much more about Team Maksimum Heat’s “DWTS” departure. They have been silent about the attempted break in.
