They already discovered a human skull buried in the sand, but that discovery will only be the start of what JJ and Lani uncover about the island they and several other Salem residents are stranded on on the Monday, June 5 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

On their way back from Greece, the Titan jet that was carrying JJ (Casey Moss), Lani (Sal Stowers), Sonny (Freddie Smith), Paul (Christopher Sean), Eli (Lamon Archey), Gabi (Camila Banus) and Chad (Billy Flynn) went down, and they all became stranded on a deserted island. So far on the NBC soap, they’ve had no success reconnecting with the outside world and getting help to rescue them, meaning they’ve been stuck there. Despite the circumstances, they’ve tried making the best of things by doing whatever they can to survive.

However, during what was supposed to be a romantic moment for JJ and Lani, they wound up making a shocking discovery when Lani hit her head on something hard in the sand. After digging down, they were stunned when they discovered a human skull. They were horrified by what they had found, but JJ also knew that meant other remains could be nearby, and the two will relish in their roles as detectives as they try to see if they can uncover more mysteries.

As they explore though, they could stumble across something even more shocking and unexpected, and they may realize that everyone is in extreme danger because of their circumstances. With this new information they get, they will quickly inform the rest of the group and warn them that things may be about to get more sinister.

Of course, things already could be getting more dangerous, at least for one member of the group. While trying to clean some fish he had caught so everyone could eat dinner, Paul was bitten in the neck by a bug, and very quickly fell ill. He became delirious and thought he heard Sonny calling for him, so he wandered off. Now, Sonny has no idea where he is, and it’s a reason to be very worried.

Meanwhile, back in Salem, their loved ones are beginning to realize that none of them have returned yet, and were expected back in town by now. With confirmation from Victor (John Aniston) that the Titan jet went off the radar shortly after takeoff and was nowhere to be found, everyone now knows that the group is in danger, or even worse, possibly dead, depending on where the jet ended up after disappearing. However, in the hopes of quickly getting help to everyone, an attempt to locate where it landed will begin. What the people back in Salem don’t know however is that they’re working against a ticking clock, because the danger to those on the island is very real. While none of them are dead yet, there is a good chance they could be soon because of the threat they have yet to discover.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
