Delta Air Lines and Starbucks announced a new joint venture Wednesday, sharing they have combined their rewards programs to offer perks to those who utilize both companies.

In the new program, where those who spend money at either company will be able to use their rewards points at the other, those who are members of both the Delta SkyMiles and Starbucks Rewards programs will earn either one mile for each $1 spent at Starbucks or double stars with Starbucks purchases when a user has a scheduled flight with Delta.

"We're continuing to evolve Delta's SkyMiles program to give our customers valuable, premium experiences not just on the days they travel but in their everyday lives as well, Prasant Sharma, Vice President of Loyalty at Delta said in a press release.

The original programs saw Starbucks Rewards members receive free drinks after earning 150 stars, while Delta SkyMiles members could earn either discounted or free airfare with accumulated miles.

The new benefit is available to both currently enrolled and new members. Those who wish to link their accounts can do so by visiting deltastarbucks.com.

"Starbucks Rewards and Delta SkyMiles are centered on creating moments of meaningful connection, and by bringing together two of the country's most celebrated loyalty programs we are able to reward our members with more of what they love," Ryan Butz, Vice President Loyalty Strategy and Marketing as Starbucks said in the press release.

"We are excited to partner with Delta to offer our members even more valuable benefits, as well as invite more customers to join Starbucks Rewards," Butz added.
