‘Descendants Of The Sun’ Star Song Hye Kyo To Appear In New Drama Series

Following the international success of their previous tandem, South Korean actress Song Hye Kyo and director Lee Eung Bok are set to reunite for a new drama series.

The actress has agreed to star in a mystery-thriller drama to be helmed by Lee Eung Bok, reported Soompi.

“It is to my knowledge that Song Hye Kyo made a verbal agreement to star in director Lee Eung Bok’s new drama,” a broadcasting industry source told Korean News Portal Newsen, as per the publication.

The source told Newsen the upcoming project would reveal “a new side” of Song Hye Kyo even though the actress is already hailed as one of the most versatile and sought-after performers in the South Korean TV and movie industries.

While there has been no official announcement from the actress, her fans were quick to congratulate her on the upcoming project.

Released in 2016, “Descendants Of The Sun” is one of the most notable dramas directed by Lee Eung Bok, while his other projects include “Goblin,” “Mr. Sunshine” and “Sweet Home.” He is currently working on the upcoming drama, “Cliffhanger,” starring Jun Ji Hyun and Joo Ji Hoon.

“Descendants Of The Sun” also starred actor Song Joong-ki who later married Song Hye Kyo in October 2017. The “Song-Song” couple divorced in 2019.

Song Hye Kyo is currently busy filming “Now, we are breaking up,” a story about emotional romantic splits, slated to release in the second half of 2021, Soompi reported. In the series, Song Hye Kyo plays a trendy and intelligent design manager at a well-known fashion label. She is starring alongside Jang Ki Yong, who plays a wealthy and famous freelance photographer and will captivate her with his charm and intelligence.

Once she is done filming it, Song Hye Kyo will begin working on another drama, “The Glory” written by Kim Eun Sook, who also penned down “Descendants Of The Sun.”
