President Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) was finally able to begin his first one hundred days as the Commander-in-Chief of the country. In episode 15 of ABC’s “Designated Survivor,” the former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development reset his presidency and began bringing his policy and agenda for America directly to the people through a speech at the Town Hall.

Although Tom tried his best to avoid talking about hot topics like gun control, he was forced to address the issue when a mother revealed that her daughter had been shot by a felon. Sutherland’s character admirably handled the issue but Senator Jack Bowman (Mark Deklin) saw this as an opportunity to pass his bill in Congress and advocate ownerships of guns.

Meanwhile, FBI Agent Hannah Wells (Maggie Q) successfully located Claudine Poyet (Mariana Klaveno), the mysterious woman who is involved in the conspiracy and killed Jason Atwood’s (Malik Yoba) son. Unfortunately, she was killed before being taken in for questioning. Equally shocking was the fact that Hannah learned that the conspiracy plans to bomb many other historic monuments like the State of Liberty, the Hoover Dam and the Golden Gate Bridge.

According to the official synopsis of episode 16, Kirkman forms an unlikely alliance in the hopes of passing his first bill in Congress. The promo shows the President stressing the importance of this bill, which seeks to ensure that a background check is conducted on people who own guns. Unfortunately, Senator Bowman puts Kirkman in a corner by using this gun control bill.

Bowman reaches out to all members of the Congress including Madam Speaker Kimble Hookstraten (Virginia Madsen). Thank God Aaron Shore (Adan Canto) is now working with her. Hopefully, he’ll make her see sense. Shore took up a job as Chief Strategist for Hookstraten.

Moreover, Canto told TVGuide that “Designated Survivor” viewers will get to know more about Aaron as Season 1 progresses. “Clearly, you’ll find out who he really is once you get to know a little bit of his background,” he said. “Where he comes from. And how far he’s gone to get to the place where he is now. The audience will start to understand him and empathize with him a little more.”

Meanwhile, Hannah briefs Secret Service Agent Mike Ritter (LaMonica Garrett) about the new threat to the nation.

“Designated Survivor” airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
