Snapchat is going to the movies! The video messaging app has partnered with the Tribeca Film Festival for a competition at the 2016 festival that will be judged by, among others, Snapchat icon DJ Khaled.

Tribeca Snapchat Short, with the tagline, "Small Screens. Big Stories," went live Thursday on the Tribeca Film Festival website. The competition invites users in the United States to submit their best Snapchat stories — artfully compiled series of users' shorter videos — to be considered for prizes and inclusion in the festival.

Starting Feb. 27, Snapchat users can save their stories — the time limit is 200 seconds or less and stories must be filmed vertically — and submit via the festival website. The stories must be completely contained on Snapchat, not edited using third party software, and be appropriate for all ages. The 10 chosen winners will travel to New York City in April for the Tribeca Film Festival to be highlighted and possibly featured in a special, one-day Snapchat channel visible to Snapchat users around the world.

Since debuting in 2011, Snapchat has grown from a niche app designed to share pictures temporarily to a media giant. It is currently worth $16 billion and boasts more than 100 million users, according to Business Insider.

The press release for the Snapchat/Tribeca partnership stated in part that "the new program gives creative Snapchatters the opportunity to combine the skills essential to filmmaking — storyboarding, scripting, casting — with the accessibility and mobile editing tools innate to the Snapchat platform."

Submissions will be judged by a jury of celebrities, artists and prominent Snapchat users, including Snapchat superstar DJ Khaled. Khaled has more than six million Snapchat followers, more than twice the amount of followers he has gained on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. The producer and DJ has gained added notoriety for his elaborate, catch-phrase-laden Snapchat stories, such as one story that went viral in December in which he gets lost while riding a jet ski in the dark while on his way to rapper Rick Ross' house in Miami.

The Tribeca Film Festival uis scheduled to take place between April 13 and April 24 in New York City. The submission deadline for Tribeca Snapchat Shorts is March 8.
