  • "Doctor Strange 2" plot details teased in casting posts
  • The Time Stone will play a role
  • An old friend will be back as an enemy

The Time Stone is expected to play a significant role in “Doctor Strange 2.” Details of casting posts for the movie that have surfaced online reveal how things take a bad turn in the movie, and how Benedict Cumberbatch’s character travelling to other worlds will have something to do with an old friend.

The Infinity Stones were not expected to play a big role in the Marvel movies for some time after being at the center of the plot that ended with “Avengers: Endgame.” However, the Time Stone may be an exception because it is an important part of Stephen Strange and his duties.

According to a casting post for the movie that has surfaced online Stephen will be busy researching the Time Stone in the upcoming film, CBR reported. However, an “old friend-turned-enemy” will force Stephen to abandon his plans and “unleash unspeakable evil.”

The post confirmed that the reason why Stephen will travel into the multiverse in “Doctor Strange 2” will have something to do with the Time Stone. As far as the old friend is concerned, it may be Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), CBR reported.

Karl parted ways from Stephen and the others after he felt that The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) was a hypocrite. Marvel has teased Karl taking a dark path after going out into the world on his own.

Expectation are high on the upcoming film, and according to CBR there is also lot of pressure to make sure the movie is a big hit. Production has had a shaky start with Scott Derrickson exiting from the project. It remains to be seen if the sequel will be able to build up the wizard as a bankable character for solo movies.

“Doctor Strange 2” will be released on May 7, 2021. Details about the cast and plot are expected to be announced in the coming months.
