Not everyone is accepting of Caitlyn Jenner. Nickelodeon actor Drake Bell took to Twitter after the former Olympian appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair as Caitlyn for the first time since she announced she was transgender.

“Sorry.... still calling you Bruce,” he wrote Monday. "That's bravery!" he added in another. The message was quickly shared hundreds of times by his 3.21 million followers.

But most of the people who commented on Bell’s post were not supportive. Some said they had lost respect for Bell, others were confused by his tweet:

Bell quickly deleted the message after his name became a top-trending Twitter topic. Thanks to screenshots, his post can still be seen.

A little more than an hour later, apparently stung by the negative reaction, Bell tweeted again. But while he professed respect for Jenner, Bell continued to use the male pronoun to refer to Jenner.

Jenner, who was known as “Bruce” before her big magazine reveal, hasn’t responded to any comments. Instead, she created a Twitter account that already has 1 million followers. “I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self,” she wrote. “Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me.”

Though Bell wasn’t accepting, most of Jenner’s family members sent out social media messages in her honor. “Be free now pretty bird,” Kendall said. "We were given this life because you were strong enough to live it! I couldn't be prouder!!! Caitlyn…” Khloé added.
