A new preview still of the upcoming movie “Dune” has been released online. The picture teases an action sequences involving the hero Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Gurney Halleck (Josh Brolin) on the sandy planet Arrakis that will be at the center of the plot of the movie.

The preview sill has been shared by Empire, and it shows Gurney helping Paul climb on to the flying machine known as the ornithopter. The plot of the film revolves around the politics of the galaxy, and Paul is a member of the important house Atreides while Gurney is a weapons teacher who serves the noble house.

Speaking about the preview picture, director Denis Villeneuve revealed that it is from the time when the protagonist Paul experiences the deep desert of the planet and he will be “mesmerized” by it. He said there is “lot of action” in this scene and he added that he is starting to feel “pretty proud” of this scene.

Going to the deep desert will have a lasting impact on young Paul. “ He has a strange feeling of being home,” Villeneuve said about the hero’s encounter in the desert.

The “Dune” 2020 film is based on the novel written by Frank Herbert in 1965. The film has impressive cast that has been drawn from franchises like “Star Wars,” “Game of Thrones,” “Mission: Impossible,” and Marvel movies, Screen Rant reported. The filming locations include Jordan, Hungary, and Budapest.

The main series has six books and the author later co-wrote several more stories, which means there are opportunities for several movies in the future. HBO Max has already announced a spin-off series based on the franchise that is titled “Dune: The Sisterhood.”

The fans of the books and the previously released movie and TV shows can also look forward to a comic series that will be released by BOOM! Studios, IGN reported. The comics will explore the prequel stories that will focus on House Atreides.

The film “Dune” will be released on Dec. 18. So far, the producers have not hinted at this date being changed because of the coronavirus pandemic that forced most of the studios to change their release schedule.
