Elon Musk Is Reportedly Reentering Political Fray. He Plans To Help Fuel Republican Midterm Election Turnout
Musk's PAC has been less visible since his involvement in the 2025 Wisconsin Supreme Court Election

Former trillionaire Elon Musk is taking steps to help boost Republican turnout for the 2026 midterm elections, according to a new report.
Axios detailed that Musk is reviving his super PAC, America PAC, which spent $260 million in support of President Trump during the 2024 election.
The PAC has been less visible since Musk's involvement in the 2025 Wisconsin Supreme Court Election. Then, Musk, either directly or through associated groups such as the PAC, spent about $20 million supporting Brad Schimel, who was backed by Republicans. Despite the expenditures, Schimel lost by 10 points to Democratic-backed candidate Susan Crawford.
The PAC will now be used to spur a get-out-the-vote effort. It will help fund canvassing, digital advertising and direct mail focused on motivating conservatives to vote.
"America PAC was an essential partner for our historic GOTV operation in 2024, and their return for 2026 is a huge boost for Republicans across the country," James Blair, President Trump's senior political adviser, told Axios. "We will again outsmart our opponents and ruthlessly execute our mission for the GOP between now and Election Day."
A recent Washington Post/Ipsos poll found that one of the biggest problems facing the Republican Party in the midterm elections is an enthusiasm gap.
The poll found that Democrats have a 10-point advantage over Republicans among voters who said they were absolutely, definitely going to vote in November.
Nathan Nascimento, executive director at AFP Action, told the Washington Post that about 20 percent of Republican base voters are at risk in the November election. These are not low propensity voters, rather they are voters the Republican Party has relied on and who had shown up to vote in the last four primary and general elections.
"This is a big chunk," Nascimento told the Washington Post. "This is a scary number."
The reported move by Musk's PAC appears to be specifically focused on closing this enthusiasm gap. Axios reported that Musk has been talking with Trump's advisers over how he can help out with the midterms.
According to the website, in 2024 America PAC helped fund get-out-the-vote efforts, including knocking on 10 million doors in swing states.
