Serial entrepreneur Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla Motors and SpaceX, plans to unveil the design behind his newest project called the Hyperloop on Twitter. Musk will reveal the design details behind the Hyperloop on Aug. 12.

The highly anticipated "fifth mode of transportation" has been described by Musk as a "cross between a Concorde, a rail gun, and an air hockey table."

The new rapid transit system will supposedly transport people from New York to Los Angeles in 45 minutes or less.

The Hyperloop is Musk’s alternative to trains, planes, automobiles, and boats, but it has the public wondering if this technology is even feasible. According to Musk, the Hyperloop will be solar-powered, crash-proof and immune to weather.
