Fantasia Barrino will soon be making her return to the Broadway stage.

The "Without Me" singer will star in the musical revue "After Midnight," a play that celebrates Duke Ellington's years as a performer at the Harlem Cotton Club nightclub, Billboard reports.

The show's producers said Fantasia will be their first guest star. "After Midnight" will feature contemporary artists in limited engagements, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Producers hope this will attract music fans that may not be part of the Broadway crowd.

Performances begin Oct. 18, and the official opening is set for Nov. 3, at the Atkinson Theatre.

Fantasia's performances will run through Feb. 9, 2014.

The "American Idol" winner previously starred in the lead role of Celie in the Broadway musical "The Color Purple."
