Apple is giving away free AirPods for eligible Mac and iPad purchases as it launches its back-to-school promo in the United States and Canada.

Apple officially launched its annual back-to-school sale Thursday, offering free AirPods for Mac and iPad purchases. The promotion rolled out in the United States and Canada, MacRumors reported.

The free AirPods are available for purchases of MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, 24-inch iMac, Mac Pro and Mac Mini. Purchase of M1-powered iPad Pro and the iPad Air entitles the customer with a free Apple wireless headset as well.

Customers may also upgrade their free AirPods to come with wireless charging technology. For an additional $40, they may bring home their free device without the hassle of wired charging.

Buyers who prefer to go for AirPods Pro may request for their free Air Pods to be replaced. For $90, they can bring home a high-end version of their free Apple cordless earphones.

On its official page, Apple plugged with a statement saying “We’ve got you covered for college.” The page showcased a wide array of MacBook products with their individual prices. Noticeably, each Mac and iPad product promised a free pair of AirPods.

Apart from that, Apple also offers qualifying students or teachers who purchased Mac or iPad devices 20% off on their AppleCare+, provided that the plan is purchased within the promo period.

Only one qualified purchase per customer for the 2021 back-to-school sale is eligible for a free AirPods. The offer is available while supplies last while new and existing students or teachers are qualified for the promo, Apple Insider reported.

This is not the first time that Apple has offered freebies to their Mac and iPad buyers. In the past years, Apple offered beats or different types of AirPods depending on the purchased Mac or iPad model.

In June 2020, the Cupertino-based tech giant offered free Apple wireless headsets to users buying iMac, iMac Pro, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and iPad Pro.

The company also offered Mac and iPad customers huge discounts back then. Higher education students were allowed $200 off from their Mac purchase and a $100 discount with their iPad Pro. The discount lasted until Sept. 29, 2020.
