Full Card For ONE 161 Features Two Title Defenses In Marquee Matchups

The long-awaited rematch between reigning ONE flyweight champion Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson is set to happen in the headlining fight of ONE 161 on August 27.

Moraes and Johnson’s first match came to a surprising end when the former got the best of the mixed martial arts (MMA) icon, handing him the first knockout loss of his career at ONE on TNT I back in April 2021.

The former flyweight king knows exactly what he has to do against Moraes when they meet up again next month, with him viewing each of his next fights as the biggest of his career since he will be on the wrong side of 30 just 13 days before the rematch.

Joining them atop the marquee is the bantamweight Muay Thai title defense of Nong-O Gaiyanghadao against the United Kingdom’s Liam Harrison.

Nong-O has been an unstoppable force since joining the Singapore-based promotion in 2018 and went on to win the belt with a unanimous decision victory on China’s Han Zi Hao at ONE: Clash of Legends.

As for Harrison, he will look to be the man to derail Nong-O’s impressive title run thus far after a convincing TKO victory over Muangthai PK.Saenchai at ONE 156 last April.

The semifinals of the Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix will also be taking place at ONE 161 as flyweight Muay Thai champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon faces Savvas Michael, while an alternate bout between Amir Naseri and Jonathan Haggerty is set to happen at the start of the main card.

The lead card for the event will see Japanese grappler Itsuki Hirata looking to bounce back from her first career loss as she takes on Chinese knockout artist Lin Heqin.

ONE 161 is happening on August 27 at 9:00 AM SGT (August 26 at 9:00 PM ET in the United States), and it will also mark the return of the promotion to U.S. primetime and will be streaming live via Amazon Prime Video.
