The 2019 Grammy Awards nominees are about to be announced, and many fans of BTS are hoping the seven Korean boys will be one of them.

BTS (Bangtan Boys, Beyond the Scene) gained massive success worldwide this year, and the 2019 Grammy Awards could be their cherry on top. The K-pop group earned two consecutive Billboard 200 no. 1 with their albums, "Love Yourself: Tear" and "Love Yourself: Answer."

Aside from the albums chart, BTS, comprising of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, also gained their first top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Fake Love," from the "Tear" album, earlier this year. BTS' next single and collaboration with Nicki Minaj, "IDOL," (from "Love Yourself: Answer") peaked at no. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Last year, however, BTS was already seeing a meteoric rise to superstardom in the United States. BTS scored their first top 40 on a major U.S. chart with their collaboration with Steve Aoki and Desiigner, "Mic Drop," Billboard reported. It peaked at no. 28, becoming the highest-charting hit on the Hot 100 before "Fake Love" took its crown just a few months later. They also snagged their first Billboard Award, the Top Social Media Artist trophy, making history as the first Koreans to win an award from the ceremony and the first to get over 300 million votes.

So do they have a chance of being nominated for a Grammy Award this year? Definitely.

BTS won't be eligible for the Best New Artist, which was the nomination fans were hoping for, as they have already released six albums. "To be eligible in the category of Best New Artist, an artist, duo, or group: Must have released a minimum of five singles/tracks or one album, but no more than 30 singles/tracks or three albums in their career to date," the description for the award on Grammy.com read.

But the K-pop group could still be nominated for Album of the Year for "Love Yourself: Tear" or "Answer," though this would go to people who had a hand in writing the album, and Record of the Year. “Fake Love” could also be nominated for Song of the Year and Best Music Video. The group itself could get nods for Best Pop/Duo Group Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Unfortunately, some insiders said they believe BTS has "zero chance" of getting a nomination, claiming the officials are too biased against boy bands. “The [Recording Academy doesn’t] like teen pop, especially boy bands,” one industry source told Digital Music News. “It’s not even music to them, they think it’s bubble gum.”

Nevertheless, their massive fanbase is still hoping for a shoutout from the Academy today. Find out if BTS will be nominated for the 2019 Grammy Awards when they announce the nominees on Friday, Dec. 7 at 8:30 a.m. EST.
