The Green Bay Packers were embarrassed when they last took the field, getting blown out by the San Francisco 49ers in primetime. A matchup with the New York Giants could be just what the team needs to get back on track in Week 13 of the 2019 NFL season.

A 37-8 defeat to the NFC’s No.1 seed might have been proof that the Packers aren’t as good as the best teams in the conference. Green Bay certainly doesn’t need to be a top Super Bowl contender, or anything close to it, in order to win at Metlife Stadium.

The Packers are 6.5-point road favorites against the Giants, according to OddsShark. The total for Sunday’s contest is 45.5.

Just about everything is pointing to an easy Green Bay victory in a relatively high-scoring game.

Since beating the Washington Redskins in Week 4, New York has been as bad as any team in the entire league. The Giants are on a seven-game losing streak with four defeats coming by at least seven points.

New York is 0-5 against teams that enter Week 13 with a record above .500. The Giants lost every one of those games by two touchdowns or more. The team gave up at least 28 points and scored no more than 18 points in all five of those contests.

Playing at home hasn’t helped. If the Giants lose Sunday, it will give them just one victory at MetLife Stadium over the span of a year. New York is 1-6 against the spread in its last seven home games.

The defense has been largely to blame. Only Mitchell Trubisky and a combination of Case Keenum and Dwayne Haskins have failed to put up at least 27 points against New York. The Giants are 27th in total defense and 29th in scoring defense.

Jabrill Peppers is likely done for the season with an injury. The safety leads the Giants in tackles and ranks second on the team in both passes defensed and tackles for a loss.

Aaron Rodgers is almost certain to carve up New York’s secondary.

Green Bay’s defense has been bad since a strong start to the season. Daniel Jones might put up some decent numbers, but the Packers should force him into making some big mistakes. The rookie has eight interceptions and an NFL-high 14 fumbles. The Packers are tied for ninth in takeaways.

Preston Smith and Za’Darius Smith are the heart of Green Bay’s defense with 20.5 combined sacks. Jones has been sacked 33 times, tying him for third in the league.

Saquon Barkley has not looked like an elite running back since returning from a high ankle sprain. Golden Tate suffered a concussion in Week 12.

This game shouldn’t be particularly close.
