Calzona won’t be the only couple experiencing relationship drama in the upcoming episode of “Grey’s Anatomy.” According to Kelly McCreary, who portrays Maggie on the hit ABC series, the Grey Sloan doctor and her intern DeLuca still need to find closure following their abrupt breakup.

The two ended their sizzling romance in a previous episode of the Season 12 installment moments after Maggie went public with their affair. In fact, it was DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) who urged her to announce their courtship — a decision he later regretted when he learned about all the nepotism taking place within the hospital.

Ultimately, DeLuca called things off when Maggie confronted him about dodging her calls. But just because their relationship is over doesn’t mean the drama is. McCreary told TVLine that there’s still unresolved feelings between the two.

“We haven’t watched either of them process any emotions about it,” the actress said. “So, I guess it remains to be seen whether it’s just a done deal … or if there’s some residual stuff to come along.”

But we don’t think MaLuca shippers should be holding their breath for a rekindled relationship. Gianniotti told “Entertainment Tonight” that he’ll be diving into a fling before the Season 12 finale — and it won’t be with Maggie.

“Things are getting juicy,” he teased, giving more details on his rebound. “[The writers are] throwing me into different people’s storylines now that DeLuca and Maggie had gone their separate ways.”

But DeLuca won’t be the only one dipping his toe back into the dating scene. McCreary revealed to TVLine that her relationship with DeLuca was a learning experience that showed her how to “break out of her comfort zone.”

“Ultimately, it opens her heart up a little bit more and it opens her mind a little bit more,” she said. “And that’s a great takeaway.”

“Grey’s Anatomy” airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
