Herman Cain, former pizza chain CEO, talk radio host and Kansas City Fed Chairman, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for U.S. president on Saturday in Atlanta.

Cain describes himself as a social and fiscal conservative.

America craves for real solutions to the problems we face. That's why I'm running for President of the United States! Cain said in a video on his website on Saturday.

[The United States] will not accept debt, nor a mantle of mediocrity and she surely will never, ever go quietly into the night. Not on our watch, he said.

Cain's career includes ten years as CEO of Godfather's Pizza, which he helped return to profitability. Prior to running for president, he held a career as an Atlanta talk-radio host.

Cain's business career include a period at the Coca-Cola Company, a vice presidency at the Pillsbury company, running the best-performing region of Pillsbury's Burger King division, according to his own biography. He turned around Godfather's Pizza and eventually bought out the chainl.

He became the President of the National Restaurant Association in 1996. He later accepted a post on the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and was eventually elected as Chairman.

He was most recently the host of a radio talk show known as The Herman Cain Show.
