Oscar Mayer debuts NEW Cold Dog, a bun-derfully odd and surprisingly delicious frozen pop, flavored like the beloved Oscar Mayer wiener. Oscar Mayer

Oscar Mayer is serving up what most would consider an odd twist on its hot dogs with the first ever Cold Dog.

The Cold Dog, as the name implies, is a frozen hot dog popsicle that came out of Oscar Mayer's "Stupid or Genius" campaign. The interactive campaign looked at a number of different ways to enjoy a hot dog beyond traditional grilling, including a hot dog cake and a hot dog rake.

The idea of the Cold Dog was deemed "genius" by Oscar Mayer fans, prompting the company to bring the creation to life.

Oscar Mayer has teamed up with frozen dessert company Popbar, which will sell the wiener popsicle at select gelato shop locations in Long Beach, California; New York City; Alpharetta-Atlanta, Georgia; and New Orleans, while supplies last.

According to Oscar Mayer, the Cold Dog boasts "both refreshing and smokey, umami notes of Oscar Mayer's iconic wiener -- all topped with a signature swirl of mustard."

Cost of the Cold Dog is $2.

"After the overwhelming fan excitement for our beloved Cold Dog, it was a no-brainer to make this hot dog-inspired frozen pop a reality," Anne Field, head of North American Brand Communications at Oscar Mayer, said in a statement.

"For more than 130 years, Oscar Mayer has been sparking smiles and bringing levity into everyday moments, and we are thrilled to bring fans another wonderfully odd way to enjoy our iconic wiener while beating the summer heat," she added.

Adding to the fanfare, Oscar Mayer will give its iconic Wienermobile a makeover in honor of the Cold Dog with frosted windows and icicle-inspired decorations throughout its New York City and Jersey Shore travels, which run through Saturday.

This is not the first time that Oscar Mayer has come out with an odd spinoff of its products. In 2019, the company debuted a bologna mask on Amazon that sold out shortly after its launch.
