How to Get Away With Murder
The mystery of Wes’ death will be explored in “How to Get Away With Murder” Season 4. ABC

“How to Get Away With Murder” fans were devastated in Season 3 when Wes Gibbons (Alfred Enoch) was killed, and it seems like the show is going in a different direction now that he is gone.

However, ABC executive producer Pete Nowalk told Variety that they are still figuring out ways to get Enoch back to reprise his role as Wes. Wes is really dead at this point, but he might still appear in flashbacks as Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) and the rest of the Keating 5 try to uncover the mystery behind his murder.

“We’ve only written the first four episodes, and he’s working abroad on another show, so right now we don’t have specific plans to bring him back, but I’m really hoping it happens,” said Nowalk.

Nowalk also teased the surprising changes in the lives of some of the characters. “Some people will be in a surprising place, but some people will just be enjoying the quiet, and we’re going to see some major changes for them over the first half of the season,” he said. “But Laurel is one who a lot has changed for, and we’ll see that from the very start of the show. [It’s] a month or so later, she’ll have to come to a decision about whether she wants to have the baby or not, so we’ll answer that, too.”

Wes’ death will also have a negative impact on the budding romance of Michaela Pratt (Aja Naomi King) and Asher Millstone (Matt McGorry). Nowalk told Entertainment Weekly that their feelings might change now that things have settled down. “Michaela said I love you and I don’t know how she’s going to feel about that once all the trauma has died down at that moment,” he said.

On the other hand, Annalise is busy building back the broken pieces of her life. “She’s definitely been beaten down, and we’re going to watch her rise from the ashes, literally, of last season,” he said.

“How to Get Away with Murder” will return for Season 4 on Sept. 28 at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
