An unexpected double elimination which took out two top teams from the “Dancing With the Stars” competition has driven home the point that Season 25 is winding down, and semi-finals are just around the corner. Now, with the stakes higher than ever, the remaining six teams have been left to work as hard as they can to keep themselves in the competition.

The ABC series will soon see Season 25 come to an end, and a new winner will officially be given the Mirrorball trophy. However, before that happens, more teams will be eliminated, and with the level of competition that has been seen all season long, no matter who goes home next will be a huge surprise. Though the next elimination will be based on judge’s scores and viewer votes from Week 7’s Halloween night dances, that hasn’t meant that the six teams who are still dancing haven’t been putting their all into their two Week 8 routines.

Here’s how the teams prepared over the weekend:

Team Viva:

It’s been a week of hard work for Victoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy, as they’ve worked on both their Argentine Tango and their trio dance with Val’s former partner, Season 23 champion Laurie Hernandez. Victoria took to Instagram over the weekend to show fans a sneak peek at the first routine during camera blocking, and it appears the routine will be appropriately dramatic.

Meanwhile, the two have also been hard at work on the routine with Hernandez. Though they didn’t share a sneak peek at the actual dance, which will be a Jive, it seemed pretty clear that the threesome was thoroughly enjoying themselves in rehearsals, as Victoria shared a cute photo of the three as they all smiled for the cameras.

She also shared a look at what appears to be a bind she and Laurie formed together as well.

Val, meanwhile, found his reunion with Laurie and partnership with Victoria to be eerily similar to the kind of experience any boy with younger sisters may have felt growing up, by joking in a photo of the three filming their package interviews that he was being forced to baby-sit.

Team Hot Property

Now that Drew Scott and Emma Slater have once again earned the judges’ favor and proven why they’re still in the competition, Emma has been working with the HGTV star hard, admitting on Instagram that she has been working to tap into his emotional side more for their Waltz.

However, the true work seems to have been going into their trio dance with Emma’s former partner, and current reigning “DWTS” champ Rashad Jennings. Drew made sure the other teams were aware of the threat they posed with a video of the three walking in slow-motion through an airport, dragging suitcases behind them as they went.

The routine itself was also given some attention on the “Property Brothers” star’s page, with a photo that not only shared a glimpse at the sparkly silver jackets he and Rashad will wear, but also revealed what appeared to be a complicated move, featuring Emma in a split on the floor, Rashad squatting behind her and holding her up, and Drew jumping over both of their heads.

It wasn’t all work for the three though, as Emma made sure to take some time out to share how happy she was to be working with both of the men all week long.

Team Fish Upon A Star

Falling closer to the bottom of the leaderboard after a Team Dance that only scored 24 judges’ points, as well as the elimination of two other top contenders for the Mirrorball, has likely put Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold into near hibernation mode when it comes to their preparations for this week. Jordan didn’t share any updates throughout the weekend at all, while Lindsay only shared one photo of herself with both Jordan and Corbin Bleu, who will be dancing a Salsa together.

Team STARK

Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas seem to be working past her rib injury, and she even seemed to be doing better over the weekend, as she shared a video of herself and Mark in the studio, where they playfully wrestled while she worked on a move for their Samba. In the video, Mark pulls her to the ground, and she falls on her side while playfully screaming for “help.”

Team Getcha Popcorn

After falling back to the bottom of the leaderboard, the fight is on for Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke, though it appears they aren’t ready to hang up their dance shoes yet. Cheryl shared some quick looks at both their Charleston and their Rumba, where Season one “DWTS” winner Kelly Monaco, on social media, and it appears the work has been put in all week long.

However, there was still time for some fun as well, as she also shared an animated photo of herself and Kelly swinging their hips on either side of Terrell, as he looks back and forth between them with an expression that indicates he’s scared of what he got himself in to.

Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson didn’t update fans on their rehearsals over the weekend, so a look at Team Franney Pack’s individual routine, as well as their trip with Alfonso Ribeiro, will have to wait until the show airs.

“Dancing With the Stars” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
