With Manchester United securing a third-place finish in the final stretch of the Premier League, the club aims to continue developing its roster. This offseason has been a chase for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho as the scorer remains a priority for the club. Given the economic impact of the global pandemic, securing a financially prudent offseason deal is a priority, and selling Smalling’s contract may help the club.

It has been reported that Manchester United could ask for an estimated 20 million Euros for the services of Smalling, per Fansided’s Red Devil Armada. This has been the case for Inter Milan as they set their eyes on the two-time English champion. Despite Roma wanting to extend Smalling’s services, the 30-year-old has found his way back to the Red Devils.

If the deal for Smalling pushes through in Inter Milan, the defender may benefit from the leadership of Antonio Conte. With the way Conte emphasizes the development of his players, Smalling may provide a good fit for the team. His presence can complement the likes of center-back Milan Skriniar to further improve the defensive strengths of the team.

It will be interesting to see how Manchester United moves forward with their lineup and if they’re able to gather enough financial resources to strengthen their club for the future. At the same time, it’s pivotal also for Smalling to find a new squad that can maximize the elite abilities he still has left inside his tank.
