  • Inter Milan want to sign Alexis Sanchez permanently
  • Sanchez's weekly wages at Man Utd are around $518,000
  • He has scored four goals and provided eight assists this season

Inter Milan reportedly want to sign Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez on a permanent deal, who is currently on loan with the Italian side.

Sanchez has impressed Inter Milan during his loan spell, having scored four goals in as many as 28 matches, out of which three have come in the last eight games. Although he did not score on Tuesday (July 28), he was involved in his side’s 2-0 win over Napoli as Inter Milan continue to push for second place in the Serie A table.

Inter Milan have not finished in the top three since 2011 and with one league game to go for each side in the 2019-20 season, Antonio Conte’s team is a point ahead of third-placed Atalanta and co-incidentally, the two sides are set to face in their final league match of the season. The winner of the match will claim the second spot in Italy’s top-flight league’s table. The league has already been sealed with Juventus winning their ninth straight Serie A title.

According to a report in BBC Sport, Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to get rid of Sanchez, who had moved to Old Trafford from Arsenal during the 2018 January transfer window. But Sanchez’s weekly wages of $518,000 is beyond Inter Milan’s budget.

Sanchez played 18 games for the Red Devils in the 2017-18 season, where he scored three goals. In the 2018-19 season, the Chilean striker performed miserably scoring just twice in 27 competitive games. Solskjaer immediately loaned Sanchez off to Inter Milan ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

The former Barcelona forward started his stint at Inter Milan well, scoring once in his first four matches. He suffered a setback when he was ruled out with an ankle injury, which he had sustained while on international duty. With eight assists and four goals, it's fair to say Sanchez has enjoyed his stay at the San Siro side.

It was earlier reported that Man Utd had allowed Sanchez to stay at Inter Milan till the end of the Serie A season. A few days later, Inter Milan will take on Getafe at the Europa League, the match which would not feature Sanchez in the Black and Blue jersey. As there are chances that Man Utd and Inter Milan will meet in the Europa final, the Old Trafford side has rejected Inter Milan’s request to continue Sanchez’s loan.

If Inter Milan sign Sanchez permanently or on another season-long loan with an obligation to buy in the ongoing summer transfer window, then that would allow the club to play Sanchez in the Europa League.
