International Left-Handers Day is marked on Aug. 13 to celebrate sinistrality and to raise public awareness about the issues faced by left-handed people.

The Left-Handers Club in the United Kingdom was formed in 1990 to promote research into left-handedness and the development of new left-handed items. Left-Handers Day was instituted on Aug. 13, 1992, by the club and soon the event started to be celebrated worldwide.

International Left-Handers Day has helped to bring general awareness of the difficulties and frustrations faced by the left-handers in their day-to-day life. This awareness also has successfully led to improved product designs as companies started to realize the needs of left-handed people.
