KEY POINTS

  • iPhone 13 will come with a wide-angle camera
  • The latest iPhone release ditches ports
  • Apple is expected to retain the present iPhone 12 design on the next iPhone line up

It's been only a few months since Apple released its iPhone 12 line-up, but leaks about its next flagship phone -- iPhone 13 -- are already drawing significant public attention.

The latest leak suggests that iPhone 13 will boast an Ultra-Wide camera. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple analyst, the iPhone 12 successor could come with significantly improved low-light performance as well.

Kuo said that the Chinese supplier Sunny Optical's iPad 5P lens smooth verification paves way for something to look forward to. He said that this increases the possibility that the company will ship a 7P Wide Angle lens for iPhone 13 in the second half of 2021.

The wide-angle lens is an addition to the previous leaks saying the next iPhone release will have a 50x zoom capability. The foldable periscope lens is expected to do better than the iPhone 12 Pro Max, known as “the photographer’s iPhone.”

Apple is expected to retain the flat-edge design it introduced with the iPhone 12. Reports suggest that the tech giant will keep the shape for succeeding iPhone generations. Yet there are still no reports if the much-awaited reduced notch will finally be seen as Apple launches the next flagship phone.

Another leak hinted that the iPhone 13 could debut with a port-less design. This follows Apple’s courageous decision to remove the headphone ports in iPhone 7 and the magnetic MagSafe charger for iPhone 12.

also suggest that iPhone 13 could adopt the soft board battery tech. This saves more space as soft board batteries come thinner with fewer layers than regular batteries.

The highly anticipated 120hz ProMotion refresh rate is another thing that leaks hinted at for the iPhone 13. If the rumors are anything to go by, animators and video editors could have a super-smooth scrolling and animation experience.

Due to the pandemic, Apple moved the iPhone 12 release to October in 2020. It is still unclear if the iPhone 13 release will follow its predecessor or will revert to the tech giant’s original September release date.

There are still no concrete details on the iPhone 13 prices. However, based on the current iPhone 12 price ranges, the upcoming Apple release could range from $699/£699 up to to $1,099/£1,099.
