On the latest “Whine Down With Jana Kramer and Michael Caussin” podcast episode, “Mike’s Return,” the couple sat down to discuss Caussin’s month-long absence from the show.

As Us Weekly reports, the 36-year-old former “One Tree Hill” actress and the 32-year-old former NFL tight end quickly shut down rumors that they had split up in the installment released Monday, but asked for fans to respect their privacy as they continue to work on their marriage.

However, during the episode, the two remained pretty open about their relationship and Caussin’s sex addiction recovery journey.

“This past month we both have growing to do in our relationship and individually,” Caussin explained. “And for me, it was really a time––with things that went on with us–- to really dig in to and face the facts of things I can be doing better in my own recovery...”

He went on to reveal that he and Kramer are also participating in a couple’s intensive program following another obstacle in their marriage, which they said they aren’t ready to open up about quite yet.

On Dec. 30, Kramer signaled the two had faced a hiccup when she removed wife from her Instagram bio and even briefly removed Caussin’s name from the title of the podcast.

That same day, she shared a photo of herself, captioned:

“2019. Ur coming to a very interesting end…and for now, all I have to say is… Time heals all wounds.”

During their latest podcast episode, the couple agreed that they can’t talk about things that are still “open wounds” on their show. They said they have to wait until they’re “scars” for the sake of their personal healing.

While the couple agreed that Caussin had not physically stepped outside of their marriage, they admitted there had still has been some dishonesty. As an example, Caussin referenced when his wife discovered a topless photo of another woman on his phone last October.

“Even if I’m not relapsing or acting out or stepping outside of our marriage if I’m still breaking boundaries or not being honest with things like the picture stuff, how is that sober?” he questioned. “How is that living with integrity? It’s not.”

The two emphasized that Caussin hadn’t physically cheated on her, as he’d done early on in their marriage. However, Kramer did describe the last month as being “heavy.”

“The heaviness isn’t...” the singer said while getting choked up. “It’s a gratefulness that we can still be here conversing. It’s also that fear too. That’s been the hardest part of this month. We’ve both individually done a lot of work... I do feel hopeful for the tools that we’ve been learning, but it’s also very scary.”

Caussin went on to reveal his epiphany that in order to be honest and love his wife he has to do it with himself for the sake of his addiction and self-growth.

They both concluded that in order to grow as a couple, they have to work on themselves individually.

Kramer and Caussin wed in 2015 and share daughter Jolie, 3, and 14-month-old son Jace.
