  • Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's Las Vegas wedding was "not completely unplanned," a report says
  • The newlyweds reportedly discussed the possibility of elopement before their surprise weekend nuptials
  • Lopez and Affleck reportedly loved their Las Vegas wedding because it was "private and low-key"

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck wanted their wedding to be as low-key as possible, according to a report.

Affleck and Lopez tied the knot Saturday in an intimate ceremony in Las Vegas attended only by their closest family and friends.

An anonymous insider told People that their wedding was "not completely unplanned" as the couple previously discussed a possible elopement.

"They were both comfortable with the idea of eloping," the source said. "They talked about it for a while. It was very important for them to have a private ceremony. They didn't want their wedding to be a spectacle."

The insider continued, "The Las Vegas ceremony was perfect. They both loved it. It was private and low-key. That's all they asked for."

The "Marry Me" actress shared details and photos from their nuptials via Sunday's edition of her On the JLo newsletter.

"We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient," Lopez wrote, adding that their wedding was "exactly what we wanted."

According to Lopez, they "barely made it" to Las Vegas' A Little White Wedding Chapel by midnight, but the venue "graciously stayed open late a few minutes" to accommodate them.

Due to their late arrival, Lopez said they weren't able to get married by Elvis, but they did get the opportunity to take photos in a pink Cadillac convertible "evidently once used by the king himself."

Lopez and Affleck first got engaged in November 2002 after meeting on the set of their movie "Gigli." They pushed back their 2003 wedding just days before the set date and eventually called off their engagement in 2004.

An unnamed source told Us Weekly that, after they got engaged again in April, they "both are so comfortable with each other and make each other so happy, so they don't want to wait any longer."

Affleck and Lopez decided to wed in Las Vegas because they "both thought it was a fun and casual way to tie the knot," the source added.

Lopez legally took her husband's surname following their nuptials. She signed off her newsletter using her new name, writing, "With love, Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck."
