  • Jojo  Siwa donned an elegant black gown at the American Music Awards Sunday
  • She said she are Prew are both happy even after the breakup
  • Despite the breakup, she said she is looking forward to falling in love again, someday

Jojo Siwa seems to be handling her breakup with girlfriend Kylie Prew really well and told People in a red carpet interview at the American Music Awards, on Sunday, that she and her ex are “both okay.”

"I was with my girlfriend for nine months. And those nine months were amazing and incredible. And obviously I've talked about [it], we broke up. And one thing that I'm grateful for is that we're both okay," she told the outlet adding, "We obviously aren't as close as we used to be, but we're both okay. And we're both happy, and that's all that matters."

The Nickelodeon star also told interviewers Jeremy Parsons and Janine Rubenstein that she is currently happy being single. In the meantime, she has channeled all her energy into her work since their split in October but she is still eager to be in love someday.

"I've been straight working every single day. However, single JoJo is funny. Every day she's like, 'I want to marry somebody, and then the next day she's like, 'Ugh, I'm so happy to be single,” she said.

Jojo earlier told People that she has not returned to the dating scene after her split with Prew although she would not mind having a “cuddle buddy.”

"I haven't started dating at all, anybody, but whatever happens happens," she said in an interview on Nov. 19. "I fell in love with somebody who I didn't ever expect to fall in love with. We met on a cruise ship, she was my best friend. And then we went to Disney together and all of a sudden ... it kind of all happened. And so I think I learned to just trust life and whatever's supposed to happen is going to happen."

The "Dancing With The Stars" contestant continued, "But trust me, I want to have a cuddle date. So if anybody out there needs a cuddle date, cuddle buddy, I'll take it."

Jojo exchanged her signature bow and rainbow getup for an elegant black off-shoulder gown with ruffled skirt and high heels for the 2021 American Music Awards Sunday Night. The teen star added a touch of color to her look - a rainbow eyeshadow.

"I wanted to be sleek tonight, but I was like, I can't fully ditch out on colors, I gotta have a little something something," Siwa told ET in a separate interview at the red carpet ceremony.
