DeWanda Wise has revealed the backstory of her character, Kayla Watts, in the upcoming movie "Jurassic World Dominion."

The 38-year-old actress explained that the backstory might be shown in the "extended cut" of the movie. She said her character has "this beautiful pair of brass knuckles" and "have this entire backstory of this adventure that she had gone on in South Africa."

"Because a lot of Kayla has this kind of Indiana Jones, she's been everywhere," Wise told Collider. "Some of her travels are for work and she goes on them because she has to go on them, and some are just for her."

Wise revealed how Watts makes "a true hero's call" after realizing there is something "awakening inside of her" when she is introduced in the movie.

"It's because she's in part very disillusioned, you know? She's very disillusioned and disappointed at the folly of man," the actress explained. "And she's in this place when we first meet her that's just like, 'If you can't beat them, join them,' and she's just made a living off the mistakes of the people who have come before her."

Wise said her character was slowly built over a period of time.

"We can all be heroes in a way and that at any moment we can make those turning points for ourselves to stand up for something when we see something happening," she added.

"Jurassic World Dominion," helmed by Colin Trevorrow, will release on June 10. It will also star Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt, Isabella Sermon and Daniella Pineda.

The first movie in the "Jurassic Park" franchise, which was helmed by Steven Spielberg, came out in 1993. The director went on to make its sequel, titled "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," in 1997.

"Jurassic Park 3" came out in 2001. It was followed by "Jurassic World" (2015) and "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" (2018).
