  • Dutch Mantell thinks Roman Reigns is being prepped for a face turn
  • Internal discussions have been reported about Reigns dropping the titles to Drew McIntyre
  • Karrion Kross has kept McIntyre in his sights in recent weeks

WWE has been on quite a roll in the past weeks by putting on solid matches on both Raw and SmackDown while bringing back talent that was released or had decided to leave after their contracts expired.

One performer though stands head and shoulders above everyone else, and it is Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Reigns is well above the two-year mark when it comes to his reign with the Universal Championship and the fact that he remains a top draw for WWE speaks greatly to the performer's ability to connect with the audience even as a heel.

However, former on-screen manager Dutch Mantell believes Reigns will become a face in the very near future.

Speaking with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Sid Pullar III, Mantell (Zeb Colter on WWE programming) explained why Karrion Kross could be the monster heel that forces Reigns back to becoming a good guy.

"I think Triple H sees something in him [Karrion Kross]. I think they're getting Roman Reigns ready to turn [face]. If they get some heels like Kross, get him hot, then they can turn Roman and then hurt him or whatever," Mantell initially said.

"Let him go out and then come back and start a big, a big angle with Kross. I think that would work."

Mantell noted that it would be different from the Brock Lesnar situation since fans had seen that angle play out so many times over the past years because he was the only "monster heel" that WWE could produce for Reigns at the time.

Seeing Reigns be taken down a peg by Kross would do two things: keep Reigns out of the picture, as Mantell mentioned, while also making Kross a legitimate threat to his dominion over the main-event picture.

Although Mantell put up a great idea for "The Tribal Chief" and Kross, Reigns' run may already come to an end this coming weekend.

Twitter user and pro wrestling insider WrestleVotes first noted this possibility taking place at the Clash at the Castle pay-per-view on Saturday, September 3, with Drew McIntyre ending the streak.

"I'm hearing multiple ideas have intrigued those making the final call come Saturday in Cardiff. Should be an interesting week ahead," the account wrote.

Should McIntyre take off the titles from Reigns, it immediately thrusts Kross into the spotlight as the next challenger as the former NXT Champion has been going after McIntyre since he returned.

WWE has multiple avenues of approach once again regarding the situation, and it will all likely depend on the outcome of the match between Reigns and McIntyre at Clash at the Castle.
